Get Involved in the Fiber Project

Every contribution counts and everyone can make a difference. You decide what is most appropriate for you or your organization.

  1. Sort out your unwanted clothes;  make sure that they are clean and dry;  pack clothing for children in a separate bag and label the bag “Children“.

  2. Bring your clothes to one of our recycling stations and drop them off.

  3. Take a picture of yourself with your donation (including a clear view of the recycling bin);  share the picture on your WeChat Moments.

  4. Follow us on WeChat  –  send us your selfie and a screenshot of your WeChat Moments. We will verify and send you your choice of reward.

If you know of a school in an underprivileged community that will benefit from our donations, please refer them to us and we will work with the school officials to help the children.

We are always in need of individuals with the skills and expertise that can help us become better and more effective at what we do.

If you think you are able and willing to commit a certain amount of time on a regular basis, please reach out.

The areas for which we are most in need of help currently include (but are not limited to):

  1. Social media channel development and maintenance (including WeChat backend development, blogging, writing and content sourcing)
  2. Graphic design
  3. Photography and videography
  4. PR, marketing and promotion (including media relations)
  5. Upcycled product designers and entrepreneurs
  6. English-Chinese translation

This is the simplest and most convenient way for a company to get involved with the Fiber Project.
  1. Host a branded clothing recycling bin at your office
    .
  2. Provide a recycling station for your colleagues and employees to recycle their unwanted clothes
    .
    Or
    .
  3. Adopt a branded recycling bin with your corporate image that will be placed at a school, a university or at a selected public location such as a restaurant, hotel or café
    .
  4. Provide a recycling station for the community to recycle their unwanted clothes while promoting your company’s brand and corporate image

  2. Make a financial commitment that will allow us to provide the children in the selected school with good clean clothes through our Fiber Reuse program
    .
  3. Your financial support will also allow us to provide the children with school bags and pencil cases through our Fiber Upcycle program
    .
  4. When they are ready, we can deliver the donations for you or better yet, your company’s volunteers can make a trip to the school and deliver the donations personally where they can form a direct connection and relationship with the children they are helping
    .
  5. We will also conduct a fun and environmentally educational upcycling workshop with the children to help them learn how to convert old clothing into something useful instead of treating them as garbage

In-kind donations allow us to provide the children with items other than clothes.

Some needs are foreseeable (such as shoes, winter clothing, and schooling necessities) while some needs are not foreseeable (such as sleeping bags, wet-weather boots, medical supplies and sometimes even food).
  1. If you have unsold (or mildly defective) inventory like clothes, shoes, bags, or stationary, you can donate them to (through) us
    .
  2. The children in the schools we support need many different things and the school officials (principals and teachers) often let us know when they are needed
    .
  3. Your donations will help communities that need them, as well as prevent these products from ending up as waste in the landfills or incinerators
    .
  4. Write to us, let us know what you can donate, and we will let you know if we can use them or we will try to find communities that can use them
    .
  5. We charge a small fee of 10% of the approximate value of the donated items to pay for the operating cost of sorting, stocking, and delivering the items to the communities in need
